Frequently asked questions
What do I get in exchange for my work-trade hours?
Participants receive one month of yoga, plus a rental towel and mat for each class, in exchange for four total cleaning hours (about one hour per week) worked. Typical shifts are 30-60 minutes long (depending on the location) following the final evening class. Shifts are managed via a collective calendar which you are responsible for updating. Shifts are timed and you will be held accountable for the hours worked.
How long is the commitment?
This program commitment is for a minimum of three months once your contract has been accepted. Participants are expected to practice 3+ times a week, to demonstrate their commitment to the program, and must have been a student of the schools for a minimum of 60 days prior to applying. If you ever choose to leave the work/trade program (you can stay as long as you like, and many have been a part of it for years!) we require a 30-day notice.
What are the duties of the work-trade program?
- Cleaning the yoga rooms, lobby areas, and locker rooms
- Managing laundry and restocking supplies
- Collecting trash and recycling
- Closing the school in preparation for the first morning class the following day
